Who Is Laurie Cunningham?
Born to Jamaican parents, Laurie Cunningham was a first-generation Caribbean-brit recognised as the first black footballer... to represent England, playing at the U21 level.
His promising career burned bright early on with successful spells at Leyton Orient and West Bromwich Albion before a record move to Real Madrid. Injuries derailed his career with short, unsuccessful stints at Manchester United, Leicester City and a few other clubs before tragically passing away in a car crash in 1989.
His contribution to the game for black footballers is not understated - never letting the overt racism in the 70s and 80s stop him from aiming to reach the top or being himself.
The tribute designs for Laurie come in two styles as a nod to his life on and off the pitch. It aims to recognise his vibrant playing style and his fashion-killer attitude.
The Lifestyle Design features the silhouette of the late footballer in my NBA Tommie style with the JumpFist and Tee's Caribbean Football Crest Branding on the front.
The Sport Design features Laurie's surname and playing number from his spell at Real Madrid FC on the back with the Jamaica Power Fist underneath and the JumpFist and Tee's Caribbean Football Crest Branding on the front.
