Montserrat & The Lost City
Learn more about my home island in our "Montserrat & The Lost City" design.
In 1995, the Soufrière Hills Volcano started to show activity. An eruption and subsequent pyroclastic flow destroyed the southern third of the island and forced thousands of Montserratians, including my family, to leave their homes and emigrate to other countries.
The front design features coordinates to the heart of Montserrat, Soufrière Hills, along with references to the Lost City of Plymouth, the year the eruptions began (’95), and “X19” in tribute to the 19 lives lost.
The back design highlights key locations from the Lost City and other must-see spots around Montserrat, including: Soufrière Hills Volcano, Government House, Old Sugar Mills, the Montserrat Oriole, Runaway Ghaut, Rendezvous Beach, and the War Memorial Clock Tower.
